When Baras National High School was still housed in the current municipal building, I’ve always felt that there must be something wrong with the gymnasium. The gym served as an extension of the school back in 1998 when the classrooms weren’t sufficient to the burgeoning population.

Back then there were no bleachers, people watching basketball games have to be in the courtside. The stage is so wide and too high. The comfort room is uncomfortable. And then there was a family who lived in one of the backstage rooms.

Last Thursday evening, a round girl (do we have other terms to refer to them?) slipped off in the aisle near the comfort room. I think she got a bump in the head that’s why a cold compressed has to be applied.

I am no engineer but I don’t think that the deep portion near the end gate is necessary. What do you put in there, by the way?

It would have been better, too, if bleachers were instead placed in the space the stage is currently occupying. Makeshift stages could then be constructed under one of the court rings. Perhaps this could be done if the budget allows. Oh wait, how much did the government spend for the boxing event?
