Electricity and mobile services are now up as Barasenians slowly start to recuperate from the havoc brought by typhoon “Ondoy.”

Lights started to lit up around 1 AM, September 28 while the service of Smart started to run last evening.

Baras Rizal Online has heard that some houses in A. Ferrera street in Barangay Santiago were submerged, while some people in Barangay Rizal sought refuge in Well’s Resort in Barangay San Jose. Roads are passable but extra care must be taken as muds from the overflown river is still not collected. Trash also piled up in the streets.

GMANews.tv has reported that five people were dead in Baras, while a citizen update last night in FM station Jam 88.3 said that a landslide occured in Sitio Mambog, Barangay San Juan. BRO still has to confirm the reports.

Classes in all levels in Metro Manila and Region IV have been suspended until Tuesday. Reports over the radio has said that there was a landslide in Teresa, Rizal, making the way to Antipolo City difficult. Alternatives routes to Metro Manila such as Binangonan and Paenaan/Pinugay were identified.

Nine years ago on Nov. 3, 2000, Baras experienced a similar flood but not comparable with what they experienced last Saturday.

Here are the initial pictures taken Saturday afternoon in the Baras river and Barangay Mabini. Take note that these were taken at 5 in the afternoon of September 26, where water may have already subsided by four feet.

If people from abroad want to help where do we send donations?

    Can BRO initiate one?

    Herbert,

Last time we heard, they were at an evacuation centre.

Manggagaling pati sila from Pasig. Wala pa rin silang access sa internet kaya ako ang naghahanap ng info dito sa Canada and am feeding it back to them. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Maraming Salamat.

    Charmaine from Toronto, Canada

  3. Dyan Llagas Says:

better take Tikling-Angono Highway route to go to Baras…it is a better choice than Antipoli which is more possible for landslide debris. But for now, still search for any info regarding the situation in Antipolo ( Solid and El Dorado places) for i really don’t know the situation if it is already passable.i haven’t been there since Friday due to flood around Manila. Hope this helped you…

Ipidala ninyo through western union, uniteller, or paypal. Time is of the essence.

  18. Jonathan Geronimo Says:

  19. Cindy Castaneda Says:

  21. margaret golda cardinal munda Says:

,,just want to ask if kung meron bang mga relief goods na nadala dun sa teresa, rizal dun sa san mateo….tapos un pong mga libreng gamot poh para sa mga may sakit?,
