Simbang Gabi 2008
Posted on December 24, 2008, 7:36 AM under Culture and Tradition, Religious AffairsWhen I came out of the house yesterday morning, it was drizzling. But when I arrived at the church, the place was dry. Just before the mass ended or during the blessing, it started to drizzle again.

We were not lucky today. Just imagine yourself attending the El Shaddai prayer meeting in the Quirino Grandstand. Lots of umbrellas were opened while others took shade under the tree. ¬†The altar itself doesn’t have a makeshift roof. ¬†Only the pianos and guitars of the choir are safe under a tent.

I was able to attend eight out of the nine morning masses. I failed to attend on the first day since I’m on the graveyard shift on the 15th, and I didn’t know what time the anticipated simbang gabi was. As usual, priests from different parishes belonging to Vicariate of San Ildefonso de Toledo took turns in celebrating the mass. But it was Fr. Rico who officiated the masses on the 16th, 21 and today, the 24th.
