Baras begets new priest

Reverend Father Gabriel Ferdinand Maria Pangilinan of Barangay Santiago celebrated last Saturday his thanksgiving mass at Saint Joseph Parish church, a week after his ordination at San Agustin Parish in Moonwalk, Parañaque. Pangilinan belongs to the Order of Friars Minor Conventual. The 28 year old priest is the second of the four children of Venancio Castañeda Pangilinan and Elvira Aguillon Pangilinan.
Pangilinan got his basic elementary education at Santiago Elementary School and later studied in Saint Joseph Parish School. He continued his vocation in University of Lasallete in Silang, Cavite, where he graduated in 2003.
He said that “the simplicity of the town and its aged old traditions in the practices of the faith,” contributed to his vocation as a priest.

Monsignor Modeston Teston, currently assigned in Apostleship of the Air Parish in Pasay City was Baras’s first priest.

As a member of Baras community, I am so proud to have another priest that originate from our town. I had a goosebumps when I read this news from here. God Bless you Father Gabriel and we’re proud of you.

Iyan dapat ang bigyan pansin ng ating pulitiko ang edukasyon, kilala ko ang misyonero na ito na si Fedinand Pangilinan apo siya ni Tranquilina Castaneda at Anastacio Pangilinan, mahirap man ay napagtagumpayan at naitaguyod niya ang bokasyon ng pagpapari sa tulong na rin ng Poong Maykapal.
Sana dumami pa ang tulad niya dalangin ko kabayan ang yung tagumpay saan man ang yung maging misyon sana ipadala ka nila sa Maguindanao upang maging liwanag ka sa madilim na bahagi ng ating kasaysayan.
