Christmas song video shot in Baras

Posted on December 20, 2008, 6:47 AM under Proudly Barasenian

Thanks to Christ Evangelist Choir who sang in this morning’s simbang gabi, I was reminded of a song by the Bukas Palas Ministry. CEC sang Bituin whose music video was shot, in majority, in Baras.

I saw the video often in Channel 9 before. You would see familiar places in the video, particularly that old house whose windows are made of capiz. The house stands until now.

Speaking of capiz, the four advent candles inside the church was beautifully decorated with the native shells.

Here’s the lyrics of the song, but you can sing along with the video since there’s already the subtitle. Lyrics taken from the Bukas Palad website.

Bituin

Sa isang mapayapang gabi
Kuminang ang marikit na bituin
At tumanod sa himbing na pastulan, nag-abang

Pagkagising ng maralita
Nabighani sa bagong tala, naglakad
At tinungo sabsabang aba

KORO:
Hesus, butong na anak ng ama
Tala ng aming buhay, liwanag
Kapayapaan, kahinahunan
Kapanatagan ng puso
Giliw ng Diyos at pag-asa ng maralita
Ng abang ulila
Biyayaan Mo kami ng pagtulad sa Iyo
Nang magningning bilang ‘Yong mga bituin

Sa isang pusong mapagtiis
Kuminang ang marikit na bituin
At doon nanatili, nag-alab, nagningning
Taimtim nating kalooban
Ginawa Niyang Kanyang himlayan, dalanginan
Nilikha nIya’ng sabsabang aba (KORO 2x)

It’s nice to see a historical church that shows a simplicity and natural in structures. Love to cherish past years as a child mesmerizing the uniqueness of experiences as an altar boy, a choir member, a commentator or lector and as a organist during those years.God bless for those who sacrifice their life for devotion and love to God the creator of all.

THE Philippines, the only Catholic country in Asia, is known in the world to have the longest Christmas celebration. As early as September, Christmas songs are being played in radio stations. Christmas songs remind the Catholics to intensify their love to Jesus. Renew the spirit of Christmas and realize the value of mass during this period.

During the official start of the 9- day traditional “Simbang Gabi” or dawn masses on December 16. It’s their way of requesting blessings from the Lord, as most people believe that if one completes the whole series of nine dawn masses, wishes will be granted.Simbang Gabi is actually a novena mass; meaning nine days of preparations before Christ’s birth on the 25th. In Spanish, it is also called “Misa de Aguinaldo” or mass of gift, since Christ is considered as God the Father’s gift to mankind.

I still remember the first time I saw this video. I jumped and screamed for the excitement of seeing our very beautiful church on tv. This is probably a six or seven year old video.

    Nakakamiss talaga…
I miss singing in the church…
I miss reading the word of God…
I miss all my friends especially during this season…
Hopefully, in God’s loving mercy, next Christmas, I’ll be there…

Merry Christmas to all Barasenians all over the world!
