KC Robles goes for mayoralty bid

KC Robles files for candidacy as mayor.
Politics is indeed more fun in Baras.
Imagine this. The daughter of the three-term mayor goes against her dad’s mayoralty candidate. Without any political party but with a lot of machinery, KC Robles filed a last minute candidacy against National People’s Coalition Ramon Matignas.
And if the information from a reliable source is to be believed, Matignas, who has gotten the blessing of Gov. Casimiro Ynares III, may be campaigning all by himself although he is the official candidate of the party. Two reasons for this – KC supposedly enjoys more support than Matignas, and of course, KC’s dad, Mayor Wilfredo Robles is also influential. Blood is indeed thicker than water. The other candidates by the way, for the mayoralty post, are former mayor Robert Ferrera and engineer Ulysses Olaño.
But KC’s candidacy is actually not surprising. Back in June, during the older Robles’s State of the Municipality Address, KC was with him onstage. Not as the barangay captain of San Miguel, but more of as a daughter. Perhaps the only thing missing that night was for Robles to raise KC’s hand to endorse her as the next candidate for mayor. A daughter-father does not really sound bad as this is done in other parts of the country.

Mayor Wilfredo Robles and KC.
If another information is to be believed, there was a NPC convention on the gymnasium on Oct. 4, supposedly to discuss the re-organization of the party. But booing and anger ensued in the meeting after some personalities, who were not endorsed as candidates for councilors, decried their non-inclusion in the official list of candidates. The eight candidates filed the day before.
Well, we will just have to see the developments in the coming days. Election is still eight months away and a lot of things will happen. Baras Rizal Online will continue its coverage of the elections.
