Hidden tropical paradise in Barangay Concepcion
Posted on October 25, 2008, 9:37 AM under Places to VisitThe first thing that came into my mind when I toured around this forested area was that this is a good place to have a pre-wedding photo shoot. I bet you have seen photos of well-off couples who hire professional wedding photographers to have their pictures taken in the lush green field, with orange-yellowish sunset as the background. You might have attended a reception that took place in Fernwood Gardens in Quezon City.

It’s also possible that all you want to do in a cold Saturday morning is to put your running shoes on, and brisk walk in a well maintained road, hearing nothing but the chirping of the birds and the sway of leaves in a thickly forested area. You will hear, literally, the “lawiswis ng kawayan,” as there’s a number of bamboos in the place. How spending your Sunday morning with your family and have a picnic?

A lot of things will come into your mind. It was my first time yesterday to enter this 11 hectare property of the national government in PPC, in Barangay Concepcion. According to Councilor Romulo Dinozo, who was also a former chairman of the barangay, Bluestar, as it was called, was supposed to be a resettlement housing project for families from nearby provinces. But with the ouster of the President Joseph Estrada, the plan was stalled. Dinozo accompanied Baras Rizal Online and Engineer Antonio Vallestero of the Municipal Engineering Office to have the photos taken.

Because of the participation of the local government in a recent trade fair, officials met with Secretary Jose Atienza of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and First Gentleman Mike Arroyo to discuss plans about area. I haven’t talked to our local officials yet, so I am not privy on what their plans are.

If you know the Concepcion Montessori, then you might have noticed a closed gate as you turn right. That was Bluestar. The pavement is concrete. The only garbage you will see are the dried leaves, twigs and grasses. There’s a couple of houses.

Going down from the site, you have a view of Laguna de Bay.

Plus, the Marcos highway, sandwiched by trees.

Speaking of the highway, have you seen Baras in the frontpage of the Inquirer?

How about Baras River? Malinis pa kaya ang tubig ng ilog sa Baras? Mahilig kasi akong maglangoy sa ilog sa Baras noong bata pa ako. May tromba pa ba diyan, like pagodas, etc. Tagal na kasi akong di nakauwi. I left 1975 and not very often akong nakakabasyon. Kung nakabasyon man ay sa Batangas, Tagaytay at Cebu ako pumunta. Pero miss ko pa rin ang Baras dahil diyan ang ugat ko. Sana our municipal official will do more about proctecting our beloved environment. ….
Thanks Joseph, those pictures are beautiful!!
