Baras to host Araw ng Lalawigan 2011?

That is the question.
But if you will base your answer in yesterday’s parade, maybe we do have the capability to host the June 11 event. Given the careful planning and good logistics, our town might be ripe enough to host that big event for the first time.

Yesterday’s parade for the 111th anniversary of Philippine independence is a little bit similar to those you see in Quirino Grandstand years ago. But since ours is just a little community, there were no big floats dramatizing segments of the country’s history. Instead it was a walkathon from the covered court of Barangay Evangelista to the new municipal building. The parade was over in 45 minutes.
What made it different was the involvement of the police and military sectors whose camps and training facilities are in Baras. This included the Special Weapons and Tactics, 419 Police Mobile Group and Special Action Force of the Philippine National Police, and the 16th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army. It was a show of force, so to speak, because they brought their M16 rifles and tanks.
Speakers were Governor Casimiro Ynares Jr. and Quezon City Third District Representative Matias Defensor Jr.
Defensor is one of the signatories of the House Resolution 1109 which seeks to amend the Constitution.

We still have one year to prepare for that big event. I always believe Barasenians can always accomplish any challenges or tasks with flying colors. But of course, we need cooperation and oneness in doing so.

mabuti naman kung baras ang host sa 2011 kc me maluwag namang gymnasium at town plaza..pero ang problema me pondo ba ang bayan…maganda rin kung tutulong ang kapitolyo at ibang bayan sa rizal..

Both needs and struggles are what excite and inspire us!
Hosting 2011 Araw ng Lalawigan is an inspiration and challenge for the Barasenians to promote its resources, its talents as well as its advocacies.
Baras should give it a try should the chance be on its way!
