Fiesta theme for the inauguration of Baras-Pinugay National High School
Posted on September 18, 2008 by Herbert Joseph Carigma under Education
Schools Division Superintendent Marites Ibanez said it right. Today’s inauguration of Baras-Pinugay National High School could be mistaken as a fiesta. You could not miss to see the musical bands, song and dance, banderitas, a lot of visitors, and high profile at that, and of course, good food. Short periods of drizzles may have poured in the makeshift stage, but it did not dampen the spirits of the attendees.

Calderetang baka, pininyahang manok, rellenong bangus, menudo, steamed chicken, chopsuey and ensaladas served the palate of the visitors. On top of that are desserts like sweet mangoes, bananas and buko salad. The Baras Municipal Band liven up the crowd, ditto with students of the schools. As you exit out of the school, feel very secured because elements of the Philippine National Police - Special Action force surround the area with their high powered arms.

The highlight of the event, of course, is the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon by Gov. Casimiro Ynares III, Mayor Wilfredo Robles, and officials of the Department of Education. that paved the way for the formal opening of the school.

Nestled below a mountain, the one-storey, six room Ynares type building is now the home of 91 students, from freshemen to junior high school levels. Three teachers mold the mind of these Pinugay residents: Mary Ann Teodoro, Leody Manlangit and Nerissa Dalumpines who also serve as the school’s teacher in charge.

In his speech before local and education officials, students and parents, Ynares said that while the provincial government funded the construction of the building, people should be thankful to God for the blessings.

He also recognized the vital role teachers ang parents play in guiding the students. Referring to students, he said that they are lucky for having the full support of the local government in uplifting their lives.
For her part, Baras National High School principal Mercedita Cu thanked the government for supporting the education department.
Fr. Efren Jimenez blessed the building.

I am proud of this officials. As far as I know that education is a future cure for a good town but I also know that maintaining health and cure of poor sick people is a priority in our small town. I want also to see project like regular garbage/refuse collection and having a public health center especially in far and isolated place of Baras.
The last time I saw Baras; it is so dirty and most of the street are flooded with sewer and garbage every corner. The streets are so narrow that only tricyle can better fit, provincial road (rizal st) is just like my driveway in my garage.
I hope I can see more improvement in the future.
Go Baras, make our small town the cleanest in Rizal province!!!
