Merry Christmas to All!

To all Barasenians all over the world, Merry Christmas!

This is by far, one of the most beautiful yet simple, Christmas celebration I’ve seen. We have seen how the church carefully prepared the simbang gabi masses. Most of the masses started on time. Homilies are meaningful. On Christmas eve, right before the mass, drizzles were experienced again in the church patio but when the mass started, it stopped. God may have really blessed us.

Mayor Wilfredo Robles and former mayor Dionisio Donato Garciano were present, so as the local legislature. They were just seats away from each other. I wonder if they made the sign of peace in the mass. I saw Vice Mayor Armingol Pilapil Jr. greeted the mother of the former mayor.

Before the final blessing, the mayor delivered his message. It sounded to me as another propaganda. I hope that next time, he’ll be apolitical since he’s attending a religious activity, and focus instead on what Christmas should mean to us.

After the mass, there was a fireworks display sponsored by the local government. According to one councilor, the people who set up the display were the same group who lit up Enchanted Kingdom. He wouldn’t say though the amount spent by the government.

If you wonder how big was the crowd on the Christmas evening mass, take a look at this photo in flickr.com/photos/barasrizal.

A lot of churchgoers also attended the mass for Christmas day. When I went to Brgy. Mabini to visit my grandfather, I saw people lining up in the house of the mayor.

As an added bonus, I have recorded the Christmas Evening mass. You might notice that the volume gets loud on some parts, while low on another. That’s because I roam around to take pictures. You will also hear the clicking of the camera. The podcast is 1 hour and 29 minutes long. We’re just steps away from uploading videos of activities in our town.

congratulations for the very impressive decorations of the church as well as the patio. you’re lucky to have Rev. Fr. Romarico Hilario for a parish priest. i’ve known him since he was a deacon. he became our parochial vicar right after his ordination, here at sto.rosario de pasig parish, when we were still with the diocese of antipolo. that was during the term of Rev. Fr. Dave Onilongo. fr. rico is a close friend. and i can very well say, you’re in good hands brothers and sisters.
