How do Rizaleños celebrate feasts?

Let‚Äôs try to compare the celebrations in Rizal – be it religious or plainly cultural. This was culled from Evolutions, the Rizal 2004 Yearbook published by ALZ Publishing. It‚Äôs owner is Avelino Zapanta, the former president of Philippine Airlines. He is based in Taytay, Rizal. He also published Manila East Watch where I was a writer for about a year.

June 11 – Araw ng Lalawigan – Movable Venue

June 24 – Feast of Saint John the Baptist – Taytay

July 22 – Feast of St. Mary Magdalene – Pililla

August 19 – Angono Day (Quezon Day) – Angono

August 23 – Feast of St. Rose Lima – Teresa

September 9 – Feast of Nuestra Senora de Aranzazu (Kakanin Festival) – San Mateo

September 29 – Feast of St. Michael Archangel – Jalajala

Note that the list does not include the last Sunday of January as Baras’ town fiesta.

    sa authot po nito.. mali op yung isang entry.. paki correct na lang po para hindi ma mislead yung mga magbabasa. hindi po first sunday of february ang feast day ni St. Jerome sa Morong. it’s september 30. snrok festival po nila iyon….

    saka po bakit po wala ang feast of st. joseph jan na March 19??? tanong lang po…

    The time the book was published, Baras and Morong do not celebrate the feasts of the patrons on their respective recognized dates.Sanrok festival was only made a few years back.This was the only year that the church people of Baras extensively promoted March 19 as the feast date of Saint Joseph husband of Mary.

    Sikaran Festival does not xactly falls on th dat you mntioned,Mr. Admin. Tuwing last Sunday iyan ng January whatever the date maybe.

    The information did not come from me. It was from the yearbook. Besides, it’s no longer the last Sunday of January.
