If there’s a program in every fiesta that I least liked, it’s the serenata. Having lived in an era of portable music players, I haven’t really appreciated music by our local bands. Old fashioned, music that can’t be understood because there’s no lyrics in them, full of marches – these are some of my reasons of not listening to serenatas during fiestas. So in the era of iPods, is serenata still relevant?
As Parish Pastoral Council president Hermy Estrabo said, “history was made” last March 19 when the street dance competition highlighted the day’s feast in honor of Saint Joseph, Husband of Mary.
It’s very seldom we do watch programs in Baras that’s well planned and rehearsed. And it’s even rare to see the most powerful persons in the town and in the province to be in one place and watch a musical production in honor of our town’s patron – Saint Joseph, Husband of Mary.

On the same session where they said no to declare March 19 as a special non-working holiday, councilors agreed for the municipality to donate money for the improvement of Saint Joseph parish church.

The Sangguniang Bayan on Monday turned down a request by the Parish Pastoral Council to declare March 19 as a non-working holiday, being the feast of the town patron – Saint Joseph.

When I came out of the house yesterday morning, it was drizzling. But when I arrived at the church, the place was dry. Just before the mass ended or during the blessing, it started to drizzle again.
