Executive Order Number 57

As many of the inhabitants of the neighborhood of Baras have requested that it be separated from the Municipality of Tanay, Rizal Province, and organized as an independent municipality;

Therefore, in accordance with the provisions of Article sixty-eight the Administrative Code Revised is hereby increased to twenty-seven twenty-six municipalities of the Province of Rizal, as established by section thirty-eight of the Code and Administrative Order Executive Customer Number eight in the series and seven in 1910 and Executive Order number Fifty-seven series in 1918, separating the neighborhood of the current municipality of Baras and Tanay organizing itself as an independent municipality.

The Municipality of Tanay shall consist of its current term unless the territory specified in the district of Baras. The Municipality of Baras be composed of the territory included in the current quarter Baras.

The organization that provided in this to take effect on January first 1921.

Rock band Rivermaya, Paolo Valenciano of Salamin, Kissa Kurdi of Viva Hot Babes and the Jungle Fighter Combo Band were warmly welcomed by Baraseños who trooped to the municipal hall for the agape, a traditional sharing of food brought by the community.

Valenciano, who acted as Rivermaya’s main man, sang the hits of the band namely Ulan, Awit ng Kabataan, Himala, 214, Kisapmata, Liwanag sa Dilim, Umaaraw Umuulan and Elesi to the delight of the crowd. The group’s performance however hit a snag when some members of the audience swarmed the stage for picture taking and giving a kiss to Valenciano. The program was briefly interrupted but was continued after police help was sought in moving the crowd off the stage.

In their tweet after their performance, Rivermaya thanked Mayor Wilfredo Robles for inviting them in Baras. The group said “Mula sa Rivermaya at kay Paolo Valenciano, Maraming Salamat Baras Rizal!!! Enjoy kami sa kantahan natin kanina. Salamat kay Mayor Willie Robles. Sa uulitin ”

Kurdi on the other hand entertained the crowd by her sexy songs, dance and games. The Jungle Fighter Combo Band from the 2nd Infantry Battalion also gave performances by singing songs of Linkin Park and Evanescence. Local bands also performed.

Comedians Bugay Drilon and Chaross Pempengco of 91.5 Energy FM hosted the night.

Earlier in the day, the pagoda sa ilog or fluvial parade was held. The joyful procession started in Sitio Nagpatong in a house where the images of the Sagrada Familia (Holy Family) and of the Virgin Mary are kept. Faithfuls, together with brass bands, brought the images to the pagoda in Barangay Santiago. While waiting for the pagoda to pass by Baras bridge, people started pouring waters to each other and to the vehicles that passed by. Members of the fire brigade used the fire truck to the delight of the crowd. After the pagoda, participants descended in Barangay San Miguel and made a dance procession, not to the church as it was customary, but to the old municipal building.

In the afternoon, despite earlier pronouncements of the parish priest that the May 1 activities has no liturgical significance, Baraseños and the faithfuls of neighboring towns joined the Tromba Festival. The parade did not follow the usual route but instead commenced in Baras Elementary School, passing through Barangay Mabini, Concepcion, San Miguel, Rizal, San Salvador and Santiago. Residents of the barangays and several groups joined the festivity. The event culminated in the municipal building where participants of the event were recognized. The two images that were included in the pagoda and the tromba were then brought back to the homes where they were hosted.
