How to go to Baras, Rizal
Posted on February 24, 2008, 12:51 AM under All About BarasAs I check the statistics of surfers in this site, there was a noticeable number of accidental visits, or those who don’t really type in the URL. Some searched about barangay ordinances, sangguniang bayan, or anything that has to do with the local government. I assume that they know nothing about our town. Let me give some information on how to go to Baras, Rizal.
Using public transportation, you could easily find a jeepney bound to Tanay in Edsa Central (also known as Crossing) in Mandaluyong City. There are many jeepneys lined up in Crossing, so make sure that you’ll be riding in the right jeep. Fare as of this writing is P 43. Travel time will ultimately depend on the traffic situation but most of time, it will take one and a half to two hours. The jeep will traverse the Ortigas Avenue which is up to Antipolo City, then Teresa, plus a portion of Morong.
A more comfortable means of transportation is taking an FX taxi. Technically, it isn’t a taxi but more of a car pool. Ten to 14 passengers pay a flat fare of P 60. During rush hour in the evening, drivers avoid the Ortigas Avenue so they either take Floodway in Pasig/Taytay or C5 Road in Quezon City and will pass through Felix Avenue in Cainta.
If you will come from Quezon City, say, from the City Hall, you could take a jeep going to Cubao. You could find jeepneys going to Antipolo or Taytay/Cainta. You may ask the driver to drop you off in Junction in Cainta, where jeepneys bound to Tanay line up. There are jeepneys bound to Antipolo via Sumulong Highway. Once you reach the terminal, take a tricycle bound to the Licos Park. Just wait for a jeepney bound to Tanay to pass by.
Once you reach the zigzag of Antipolo, you could feast your eyes to the vast farm lands and trees in Teresa. If, however, you will take the Angono/Binangonan road, you will see the Laguna Lake.
Don’t worry about the road. All national roads are properly maintained. They are either asphalted or cemented. Almost every year, the provincial public works does some asphalting.
How would you know that you’ve reached Baras? Just like in other towns in the country, you will see a big, metal arch welcoming you to Baras. First thing you’ll notice is the mountain. Once you look at the left side of the road, you will see the new municipal hall and the gymnasium. You might also notice the Well’s Resort which is on top of the hill, and Punta de Fabian.

Noong araw merong ‘salang bato’, ‘kalang bato’, atbp.
para pag- picnican, pero ngayon ang ilog baras ay basurahan na lang at imburnal.
Saan nga ba may magandang tanawin at picnican sa Baras?

Umuwi ako last month pero gabi ako ng dumating sa Baras galing airport at naligaw ang driver ko at nakarating ako sa Tanay ng di ko nalalaman dahil di ko nakita ang arch na sinasabi mo, di ko din napuna ang municipal bldg dahil walang sign na madaling mapuna.

kahit anong linis ng isipan at katawan ng ating mamamayan ay dudumi at papangit din sa dami ng taong baguhan sa ating mahal na bayan – tingnan ang mga squaters sa highway na daan, bakit hindi malunasan at hindi dapat payagan, ilagay sa dapat na lugar.

Once you reach Baras thru the National Road, the first landmark is the welcome arch. Pagmasdan mo yung arko, parang arko lang ng barangay pag nagpunta ka sa ibang bayan. Dapat palitan na sana. May isang taong gusto sanang tumulong sa mga proyektong maaring magpaganda at maiayos ang PLANNING SYSTEM ng Baras. Ayaw naman paniwalaan. Paano, puro pulitika ang nasa utak ng mga tao. Puro magagaling!!!! Puro master planners!!! May direksiyon na raw ang pamahalaan, hindi kagaya ng dati. EH, ANONG DIREKSIYON???? Direksiyon ng …………. ?
To the north where sex, lies, and deception envelop the usual beautiful spots of Baras.
To the south, Dahong Palay was right, basura everywhere. Yung mga kawawang manginigisda, wala ng mahuli, sa dumi ng ilog at lawa. Kalang-bato, salang-bato, mga scenic spots na hinanap mo. Don’t worry Dahong Palay, ibang BATO ang pinagka-abalahan nila. Bato na Shabu. Madaling pagkakaitaan.
To the west, the barbaric corruption in the government. Walang patawad, barya o milyon, talo-talo na! So anong direksiyon? Direksiyon ng sugal, sabong,tong-its, mahjong, casino!!! Communal properties being sold to shrewd businessmen. Can you imagine barangay officials certifying ownerships of land-grabbers at P100,000.00? Tapos, eyeing for a higher post pa sa bayan natin. What is happening to our municipality? Nakakasuka!!! Ano motto? KAYANG-KAYANG KUMITA KUNG SILA-SILA!!!
And to the east, projects promised to the constituents but unfulfilled until now. The Organic Agri. Project, Ano na update? Obviously, FLOP!!! Laki ng pera na nawala! Sangkatutak na seminars, forums, mga palpak na showcases, eh,. saan na? Mga chong, ang staple food ng taga-Baras ay hindi ang organic rice ninyo, kundi NFA rice na pinatungan pa rin ang presyo ng mga walang habag sa mamamayan. Magkakaroon muli sila ng concern sa mga mamamayan pagdating na naman ng eleksiyon. Ngayon, Bamboo Propagation daw naman!!! Ha ha ha ha!!! MAY DIREKSIYON NGA!!!

Sa google Earth lang po makikita na ang hinahanap na place.Madalas akong magnavigate para mahanap ang direksyon.Walang indibidwal na dapat sisihin sa nangyayari sa Bayan ng BAras ang koruption, addiktion, prostitusyon atbp.kundi dahil mismo sa mamamayan nito. Ang disiplina sa sarili..halos pareho ang ang ating mga opinyon….tama me magagawa pa tayo.tulungan natin ang mga leader natin.para sa kinabukasan ng ating mga anak at ng ating bayan……..Inang bayang Baras….

I was about to contribute article in titled “SEE YOU IN BARAS” to inspire those who are fund of Adventure trips, trekking and other events a reader can explore in a day. Also to invite local and foreign investors through this site that I am beginning to introduced to my comrades who are on the other part of the Globe. But when i click this post, i found out that Herbert already posted this Article which the content is exactly the same with the one had. I noticed the 1st response from Vladie Banez, which according to him a Production Manager in Landmarks, a travel/history tv program in net.25. I felt the excitement while i was reading it. Wala akong masyadong alam sa mga nagagawa na sa Baras dahil matagal na akong nakatira sa abroad. Dahil dito sa site na ito ay nakikita ko ang mga pagbabago at pumasok sa isipan ko na magbakasyon naman at makita ang bayan kong sinilangan. Siguro maninibago ako sa lugar, pero ang mga taga Baras dahil halos magkaka-anak ay alam kong nandoon pa din ang pagmamahalan at pagkakaisa. Noong bata pa ako nakita ko ang pulitika na magkalaban ay mga mag-pinsan, mag-tiyo pero pagkatapos at kung sino man ang nanalo ay kasunduan pa rin at tulungan uli. Lets fight in this post Florante balimbing…LOL..pinagtanggol mo ang Baras in other post but try to read your blog in this post? Hinusgahan mo pa ang bayan mo. Sino ba naggtanggol sa Bayan mong sabi mong mahal mo na ikaw rin ang may sabi walang direction? Readers knew who you really are. Stop washing your hands by using what i had publish in the other post. I only share my opinion about the traditional celebration of tromba festival. What a word “WALANG DIREKSYON…and the other one “ON THE NORTH WHERE SEX, LIES and DECEPTION…” Sa palagay mo sino sa ating dalawa ang may malasakit sa bayan mo at nagtanggol sa bayan mo? Hindi mismo bayan mo ang pinatamaan ko, kundi ang mga tao sobrang perfect na akala mo wala masisilip na mali. Sila mismo ang makakasira sa bayan mo. Pati ikaw na humusga sa sinasabi mong bayan mong mahal. Look at your Blog….Ako ang tinira ko lang ang mga magsusugal at mga tsismosa…Bkit tinimaan ka ba? BARAS RIZAL ONLINE SPEAKS FOR ITSELF. AS I NOTICED SOME REACTIONS SEEMED NOT REALLY WELL STUDIED. THEY JUST REACT IN ORDER TO SAY SOME THINGS EVEN NOT RELEVANT TO THE ISSUE. Some reacted as if they are benevolent personalities to manipulate bloggers and laugh to the bright ideas of others. They feel as if they are the most influential people…
Let me ask you my fellow Barasenians?? Especially those that are not physically present in Baras and contributed actively in Baras Rizal Online? What have you been doing in other countries for the past years?? Did you even help your Town for its improvement?? So that when some organizations ang individual personalities come to visit this town nobody from Baras will post comment like what is being recorded here..
I am wondering kung bakit ganun na lang kung husgahan ng iba ang isang nagpahayag ng comment isa ibang post but as what I read in this post, its intirely different. I am not being biased..My conern here is just to enlighten everyone on how we would think things as we are all dealing with
this international site where many countries might come to visit and we are addressing negative comments to the town as a whole. People just blog to trigger others to reply negatively. But in this post…ITS A SHAME.!!
Please be careful as to what comments you are going to post. It just come to my knowledge na my mga tao din pala nagpapakahirap mangumbinsi ng mga investors para maiangat ang turismo ng Bayan.
If anyone wants to defend your town dapat mayroon ka concreto at responsable desisyon. Dahil kahit anong pagtatanggol natin sa mga taong may mga negatibong pahayag sa mismong naninirahan dito, kung ito din mismo ang pananaw ng MISMONG TAGA RITO ano ba ang saysay ng mga declarasyon ninyo??
Many of us criticized someone who post a blog on the other topic and had come to dislike her, refering her as stupid.. However some would never dead-set to oppose of her stand, especially those who read this post…!!!
Its up to you readers to declare if my way of making decissions ends right here and right now. It ends for any intelligent Barasenian who is willing to think if your really Love for Baras is true or only words just for people to think you are in, in this site..

Readers reactions in an interactive format are important part of any blog. Sa pagiging interactive ng palitan ng info. maaaring ang sinuman ay magbigay ng kanilang mga reaksyon sa ano mang paraan na nais nila-positively or negatively, malayo man o malapit sa orihinal na paksa, sarcastic man o nang-iinsulto. Ganoon pa man ang isang nagbigay ng pahayag ay nararapat maging responsable sa pagharap sa anumang mga reaksyong ibibigay sa kanyang isinulat at kung kinakailangan maging responsable rin sa paghingi ng paumanhin kung sakali man na talagang mapatunayang nagkaroon ng pagkakamali na maaaring sinadya o di sinasadya.
Kaugnay ng mga isinulat ni Florante at ng isa pa sa kabilang blog, may nakita akong pagkakatulad at pagkakaiba. Sa pagkakatulad pareho itong lumayo sa paksa: kay Florante itinatanong ang direksyon patungo sa Baras–direksyon ng pag-unlad ng bayan ang tinalakay which is according to his negative point of view. Dun sa kabila-suggestion ng tamang gamit ng English grammar ang comment–napunta sa pagsasabi ng mga pangit na salita ukol sa mga taong sugarol tsismosa at paikot-ikot lang sa Baras.
Pangalawang pagkakatulad: parehong gumamit ng mga nakakainsultong salita ang mga nagsulat.
At sa pagkakaiba malinaw para akin na ang pinatutungkulan ng pang-iinsulto ni Florante ay ang mga pulitiko at lider ng bayan bagamat ginawa niya ito sa isang paraang retorikal (rhetorical- meaning he used indirect words to cover-up the true message he wants to relay e.g. “To the north where sex, lies, and deception envelop the usual beautiful spots of Baras” which for me reveals the problem of prostitution and dishonesty of those who are in the govt. seat).
Ngunit sa kabilang pahayag- malinaw rin sa akin na ang pinatungkulan ay ang mga karaniwang tao na direkta niyang binansagang mga sugarol tsismosa at paiikot-ikot lang sa bayan na aniya ay dahilan kung bakit hindi umuunlad ang bayan.
Para sa akin ito ang malinaw na dahilan kung bakit umani ng mas maraming negatibong reaksyon ang ipinahayag ng huli (dun sa kabilang blog na ang tapik ay pagoda) kaysa kay Florante kahit pa nga parehong nakapang-iinsulto ang kanilang mga pahayag. Insulto sa pagitan ng karaniwang tao at mga pulitiko— natural mas maraming magrereak at magtatanggol para sa kapakanan ng mga karaniwang tao kumpara sa mga pulitiko.
Let us learn how to get meaning not only thru reading between the lines, but also thru above and beyond the lines.
Yung panawagan or shall I say, pagtatanong sa mga Barasenian na nasa abroad kung may nagawa o may naitutulong ba sila sa bayan ay isang magandang aksyon. Siguro nga mga kabayan na nasa abroad lalo na yaong nagtatrabaho talaga as OFW, be united and do some programmes that can help and alleviate the lives of our kababayan. Pero paalala lang din sana sa mga nagtatanong kung ano na naitulong ng mga Baras na nasa abroad–ang mga buwis na ibinabayad nila sa pagpapadala ng pera ay matagal nang kinikilala ng pambansang pamahalaan bilang pangunahing dahilan kung bakit nakakalaban pa rin ang ekonomiya ng bansa sa lumalaganap na resesyon sa mundo.

Rhetorical it may seem, but not solely directed to town officials but to entire Barasenians. Its like describing things in two different ways… looking at it half-empty or half-full…. How ever you say its still degradation of character and negative impression to me…
Please do not blame public officials exclusively for the sorry state of the town cause they can only do as much and its the residents who should be responsible enough to help the leaders so there can be progress in this town. If every resident could be responsible enough not patronizing gambling, gossips rather devote their time to be more productive would be a good thing to start with..
My point here is that many reacted on the other thread coz that’s the latest thread and nobody will waste their time reading this as this was posted ages ago and only few has read on what florante said. If both were posted at the same time surely, both posters will be castigated and blasted for their actions. BUT WHO CARES… again partly TRUE, NO CONTEST but if we do something about it and be PRO ACTIVE rather than REACTIVE… duh, typical pinoy style… LOL

I am a bit confused here, are you saying that OFW remittances from abroad incurs tax?? Or should I say, are legit OFW’s are filing ITR to pay their taxes due for their home country? I do know that there is tax due being an OFW on certain foreign country but am gonna limit my discussion to our country only.
I have not heard of such yet or I suppose do not know so please enlighten me… What i know is that its the middle class/working class are paying their taxes due in a proper manner. Businessmen are not fully paying their tax due coz that’s how tax collection works here… not like in the US that expats/citizen working in a foreign country are REQUIRED to pay taxes for their home country especially if their employer has homebase in US mainland. But in current Philippine setting there is no such thing in place and basically OFW are not paying taxes on a regular basis or just maybe I don’t know if there is one anyway. If ever you send money back home, you do pay MONEY TRANSFER CHARGES and not TAXES as these are bank or financial institution income.
Its true that OFW’s is one of the country’s source of cash inflow to our economy but let’s face it, If given the chance with greener pasture in our country, you will choose to stay, right?
If you send money to your love ones please remind to spend wisely and also help our local economy by paying correct taxes. By paying REAL ESTATE taxes, Business taxes etc. diligently and correctly. IRA of a 4th class municipality is not enough but improved tax collection will be of great help.
If you want to help for the greater GOOD start within ourselves…then everything follows…

So I tried to analyse it at gaya ng sinabi ko sa huli kong sinulat: PARA SA AKIN e yun ang nakita kong dahilan.
Ukol don sa buwis na sinabi ko na sa palagay ko ay naitutulong din ng mga taga-Baras na nasa abroad sa bansa, e palagay ko tama naman ako kasi ang charges na ipinapataw ng mga tanggapan o bangkong tumatanggap ng padala o remittances ng OFW ay kasama sa kahulugan ng buwis. To prove it here is one of the meaning of tax–A fee charged (“levied”) by a government on a product, income, or activity. If tax is levied directly on personal or corporate income, then it is a direct tax. If tax is levied on the price of a good or service, then it is called an indirect tax.
In my last post as you can notice, I encouraged our kababayan abroad to unite and organize programmes that can possibly help our town– these words of mine proves that I appreciated and supported those opinions of other bloggers calling and asking what those Barasenians OFW could possibly do to help our people.

Maganda rin yung sinabi mong opinyon na dapat turuan ng mga nasa abroad ang mga kamag-anak nilang nasa Pilipinas- Baras na gamitin nang maayos at matalino ang mga ipinapadala nilang pera.
Ukol sa pag-aabroad, tama rin yung sinabi mo kung may mas magandang kapalaran sa ating sariling bansa e hindi rin aalis ang maraming Pilipino. Ngunit tandaan din sana natin na hindi lang yun ang dahilan kung bakit may mga Pilipinong nagpupunta sa ibang bansa… Yung iba ang dahilan ay para sa personal na dahilan at yung iba naman ay para sa pag-unlad ng karanasan… gayun pa man anu’t anupa man ang dahilan ng pag-aabroad nila ay hindi maaalis yung katotohanan na Pilipino pa rin sila at babalik din sa Pinas pagdating ng panahon.
Sa anumang dahilan, darating din ang panahon na baka magkaroon ka ng pagkakataon na makapunta sa ibang bansa,sana huwag mong palagpasin sapagkat kahit sa bibliya ay sinasabing ang mga taong nagkakaroon ng pagkakataon na pumunta sa ibang bansa ay nagkakaroon ng kaunlarang pangkaisipan(pasensya na hindi ko hawak ang bible ngayon kaya hindi ko masabi yung actual na verse). Ngunit pag nangyari yun e sana huwag mo ring kalimutang tumulong at bumalik sa bayan mo kahit sa maliit na paraan.

I do know tax levy, sales tax, etc as I have worked before on tax software company. I just wanted you to expound so reader understand better and know what are we talking about.
I have been to different places abroad and I know been there and that… We have compelling reasons for leaving but I chose to return and work my butt here cause I have high regard in my capability to earns close maybe not as much as compared working abroad it does have its PROS and CONS of course. As for now, going out is temporary shelved until such there is a need to do so.
Pardon me if I may have sent a wrong impression but I just want the negative impression issue die down, am not thing to suppress others opinion but it does not help anymore… it only adds up to fire. I always look both sides of the coin and I will back anybody even if against all odds if principle he/she stands for is right.
Its nice to meet you here and hopefully we can continue our discussions, clash of opinions for whatever topic under the sun in near future.
