Growth Patterns
The population of Baras has been growing at an average of 3.99% in the span of the last 61 years, as against the average provincial growth rate 3.49%. From 1990 to 1995, Baras has grown at an average annual rate of 3.24% against the province’s 5.53% growth. The historical trend for both Rizal and Baras is shown in Table 1. It can be observed that the highest growth rate of Baras was exhibited in the years 1975-1980. The growth rate slowly decreased from period 1980-1990 until period 1990-1995. It began to increase again towards year 2000 (Figure 1). At an average annual increase of 4.01% in 1995-2000, it is expected that Baras population will double in 2016.
