Discussion Board now open
Posted on November 5, 2008, 3:26 PM under All About BarasFirst, the bad news. I will no longer post updates in this website, indefinitely. I’ll concentrate on my job and some other things more important. Unless it’s a very big news, expect Baras Rizal Online to be outdated. I will, from time to time, look at some comments posted and reply to inquiries when necessary.
But the good news is, I have created a discussion board. It’s called The Proper Forum, and is currently hosted in 0fees.net. I earlier planned to host it in this same website but when I tested it, it requires a bigger server space. I earn a very, very small amount from this website, and I’d rather invest my money somewhere else. If there’s somebody there who’s kind enough to fund Baras Rizal Online, I would appreciate it. I could easily migrate the forum from 0fees to barasrizal.com when that happens. Please post your suggestions on the topics that we can cover in the discussion board. I understand that the forum have some issues with some browsers, but it has been tested to work fine in Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Safari.

this is really a sad news, herbert. but please be specific to the funding that this site needs. is it one-time or monthly funding? with posting news and articles, why not open it for other people to do postings here with you as the editor? or do this as blog-like site? these are just suggestions. if i’m asking too much from you, it’s because i don’t wanna give up just like that. i’m really enjoying this site and i believe this will go further more. you already opened our town to the next level, i’m sure there are people out there who’ll follow and support you. i’m one of them!

I agree with Dell. I hope you reconsider. This is the only site where we Barasenians living abroad can get some news about our town, and at the same time express our views and opinions about current issues. Let us know how can we help to keep this site going.

Yup, why not? Make a financial proposal. We’ll see what we can do on our side.

Baras is still my roots & I like to read news and updates on how this small town is progressing. To see good photos around there inspired me to see Baras again. With your plan, I’ll see how I can help too.
Keep up the good work Herbert!!!

We do understand your situation. Everything has cost, including your precious time. If you can show us your annual budget, your present and future readers would be able to help you out.
Barasrizal.com has become an important resource of the Barasenians, wherever they are located. This connects us all.

Thank you for all your pledged support. Currently, I am subscribed with ploghost.com and has the cheapest plan. My plan is to get as much webspace and bandwidth as possible so that I can finally have a photo album and forum hosted in our server.
If you are really interested in helping barasrizal.com, post a comment and make sure you have a valid email address. I’ll give to you my BPI savings account number. Perhaps you have family members here in the Philippines who can make a deposit in your behalf.
Ayokong magmukhang namamalimos sa inyo. Mahirap lang talagang mag-maintain ng website kung saan sa’yo ang layout, photos and article, tapos ikaw pa ang coordinator kapag may mga nagi-inquire.
If you want to advertise in this website, it’s fine. Ayoko lang ng pulitiko.

Jorge:
You can use google maps to locate or to have map of baras or better yet you can download google earth as well. One thing more, its satellite view so you can see roofs better.
…..
Herbert, please do have page for us who are working abroad and would like to post our pictures, para naman magkaron din kami ng pagkakataon na makasalamuha ang iba pang taga baras na nasa ibang bansa, I would like to help also in return.
…..
Napakalawak na disyerto itong Libya pero sa isang pagkakataon eh nakatagpo ako ng kapwa ko taga Baras dito. Iba talaga lahi natin kahit saan.

jorge,
why not try the Red Star Apartelle in baras for your accommodation or if you want cozy, try the punta de fabian.
